Philosoraptor T-shirt

This shirt made me giggle quite a bit. Quoth Tcritic:

Comes from a company called Lonely Dinosaur who despite their light hearted exterior are committed to organic or recycled cotton and water based inks, so go give them a try, and if you feel so inclined tell them [Tcritic] sent you.

If they came in my circumference, I’d buy two! You there, you look skinny. Buy one!

Working at the La Brea Tar Pits Factory

Pico and Sepulveda, as performed in 1947 by Felix Figueroa and his Orchestra, and as seen in Richard Elfman’s 1982 film The Forbidden Zone. Stay tuned for the money line at the end:

Vine may be fine, but for mine
I want to feel alive
and settle down in my
La Brea Tar Pits

Where nobody’s dreams come true…

Brought to mind by Will Campbell’s post on Los Angeles Metblogs, where they’ve got a whole series going on songs about Los Angeles.

Elvira as Bettie Page

by thatbaldguy on 29 Apr 2009 at 19:23:49, under art and design, culture

If you go to the same places on the intarweebs that I do, you’ve probably heard that Lenora Claire is curating a Bettie Page-themed art show at the World of Wonder Gallery. Which brings us to today’s topic: Elvira as Bettie Page!

Cassandra Peterson as Bettie Page

Cassandra "Elvira" Peterson as Bettie Page

Talk about two great tastes that go great together! Photographer Austin Young is doing the FSM’s work there. He’s also shot Margaret Cho as Bettie for the show, and Lenora Claire spanking herself as Bettie.

I so need to go to this show. Quite a bit of Bettie-inspired art leaves me cold, but there are some darn fine artists participating here.

Bettie Page Heaven Bound: A Celebration of the Life of Bettie Page
Opening Reception Saturday, 2 May 2009, 8pm-midnight ($5)
Show runs 2-29 May 2009

World of Wonder Storefront Gallery

Yes, the tinker is adorable @badkittyx. No, you cannot take him home. No, not even if you promise to feed him and take him walkies. Now put him down and let’s go find an ale stand.

I totally missed Mr. Ellis’ touching ode to Earth Day yesterday:
